Industry and commerce

Lindesberg is a town that by tradition is based on industrial prowess. The history of the iron industry serves to confirm this fact. The ready access to iron ore, forests, watercourses and ease of communication, formed the basis on which industrial progress was made. These same facilities encouraged the enterprising development in the paper, carton, pulp, engineering and manufacturing industries. There has been considerable and rapid growth in the many large and medium sized manufacturing industries, and especially the engineering industries.
The main industrialists in the area include Arvin Meritor, manufacturing axle's for heavy duty vehicles, and Linde Maskiner who produce a range of components for both automobile and vacuum cleaner manufacturers. Other industrialists include PorPac Fagerdala, who manufacture packaging and automobile components, Nammo LIAB AB supply equipment to the Swedish Ministry of Defence. The main employer in the south area is the Korsnäs Frövi Board Mill at Frövifors. Another process industrialist is Rottneros in Rockhammar.
The small businessman has a very well established tradition in Bergslagen. The number of small business has increased considerably during recent years as more and more people set themselves up in their own business. This is especially noticeable by the expansion in membership of the local business associations. Industry always has been, and always will be, the corner stone on which Lindesberg stands. The town offers ideal conditions for continued investment for the future
