Lindesberg has always been a centre when considered from the historical point of view. Originally a trading centre and now the centre for providing services to the northern part of the County of Örebro.

Lindesberg Hospital provides both emergency and routine surgical, orthopaedic, medical and geriatric services around the clock. The Upper Secondary School in Lindesberg caters for some 1200 students providing them with a very high standard of education in a wide range of subjects. The sports curriculum includes Judo, provided on a national basis, and Handball, Golf, Ice Hockey, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Dance, provided on a regional basis. The school is very active in promoting international student exchanges and visits.

Fellingsbro College of Further Education, 36 km south-east of Lindesberg, also offers a number of special courses including Film Animation. Lindesberg also has a centre, namely Masugnen, for developing competence within the borough. Here the emphasis is on education in the field of IT and the centre also provides the most up-to-date methods and techniques for distant tuition. Conference facilities in an exclusive and pleasant environment are also available.

The Grimsö Research Station is also found within the borough. This is a centre in Bergslagen for the research of wild life and the ecology of the countryside. A total of some thirty researchers and students are engaged here in researching and supervising the environment and providing education regarding the environment of the area.

Lindesberg has a unique and convenient location providing easy access to cities, larger towns and rural areas. Stockholm is just 2,5 hours away, the county town of Örebro no more than 30 minutes and the beautiful Bergslag nature is all around.
